About Us

The NB Center for American Automotive Heritage is dedicated to preserving American automotive history through the collection, restoration, and sharing of vehicles, knowledge, and craftsmanship. Our campus features a world-class restoration shop (Precision Motor Cars, Inc) and a suite of specialty businesses (The NB Center Services, LLC), including machining, engine building, and gauge restoration, as well as The Service Center, a full-service maintenance and repair shop for vintage cars. The NB Center also houses a curated 200-car collection spanning 1910 to 2017, all situated on a 27-acre, park-like campus.

We are looking for an experienced fabricator with complementary skills in automotive body restoration who is enthusiastic about working on old cars and trucks to join our team. A team player who is hungry for new challenges and an environment where they are allowed to shine as craftspeople. 


Position Overview

We have an opening for an experienced individual with specialized experience in metal and wood fabrication as it applies to vintage automobile bodywork.  Candidates must have a working knowledge of automobile bodywork especially as it applies to vintage automobiles. The ability to think outside the box and solve problems at a high level is absolutely essential. 


Responsibilities

  • Clean and detail vehicles using methods, tools, and products appropriate for vintage automobiles, with consistent attention to quality and preservation standards

  • Maintain interior and exterior presentation so all vehicles clean and presentable at all times

  • Perform routine collection checks on a scheduled basis, including: battery tender operation and battery age tracking; tire condition, pressures, and date codes; and visual inspection for leaks, wear, or developing issues

  • Accurately complete and document all assigned vehicle task lists and inspections, including maintaining proper fluid levels

  • Ensure each vehicle is properly stored, positioned, and maintained in a state of readiness for immediate driving on short notice

  • Assist with the safe and careful movement of vehicles within and between buildings

  • Support staging and preparation for onsite tours, events, and driving activities, with full responsibility for vehicle readiness before and reset after use

  • Identify, document, and communicate mechanical or cosmetic concerns early and clearly to the Restoration Shop Manager. This includes coordinating with the Restoration Shop Manager to support timely resolution and minimize vehicle downtime

  • Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date records within the collection archive, ensuring documentation reflects current vehicle condition, maintenance status, and activity

  • Perform basic building and collection area upkeep and maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment

  • Maintain inventory of detailing supplies, cleaning materials, and related equipment

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations and the mission of The NB Center

  • Collection Readiness – Maintain 100% of assigned vehicles in “tour-ready” condition at all times

  • Inspection & Documentation – Complete 100% of scheduled checks on time with fully up-to-date documentation

  • Detailing Quality – Meet detailing standards as communicated by the Curator

  • Event Support – 100% readiness for assigned events and post-event reset completed within 24 hours

  • Inventory & Workspace – Zero workflow disruptions due to supply shortages while always maintaining clean and organized work areas

  • Ownership & Accountability – Meet deadlines and task completion expectations with minimal oversight


Qualifications

  • Ability to start and operate a wide range of vehicles, including all types of manual transmissions

  • Clean driving record and demonstrated ability to safely handle vintage and specialty vehicles

  • Genuine passion for cars, with an appreciation for preservation and proper care of vintage vehicles

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently meet high standards for cleanliness, organization, and presentation

  • Highly organized with the ability to track multiple vehicles, tasks, and schedules simultaneously

  • Ability to work independently for extended periods while maintaining accountability

  • Basic mechanical awareness with the ability to identify and communicate potential issues clearly

  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment across shop, garage, and outdoor settings

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multiple departments

  • Availability for overnight travel as required to fulfill job duties


Work Environment

The Collection Department is located at 862 N Fenwick At, Allentown, PA 18109, and is part of The NB Center’s modern and well-equipped campus. Hours are typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with a one-hour lunch break. This will include occasional evening and weekend shifts to support specific events. Secure and free parking is available on site.                                                                                                                               


Reporting Structure

The position reports to the Curator and also works closely with the Restoration Shop Manager as needed.

Physical Requirements

This position frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or even crawling. This position requires lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate power tools is required.
