About Us
The NB Center for American Automotive Heritage is dedicated to preserving American automotive history through the collection, restoration, and sharing of vehicles, knowledge, and craftsmanship. Our campus features a world-class restoration shop (Precision Motor Cars, Inc) and a suite of specialty businesses (The NB Center Services, LLC), including machining, engine building, and gauge restoration, as well as The Service Center, a full-service maintenance and repair shop for vintage cars. The NB Center also houses a curated 200-car collection spanning 1910 to 2017, all situated on a 27-acre, park-like campus.
We are looking for an experienced fabricator with complementary skills in automotive body restoration who is enthusiastic about working on old cars and trucks to join our team. A team player who is hungry for new challenges and an environment where they are allowed to shine as craftspeople.
Position Overview
We have an opening for an experienced individual with specialized experience in metal and wood fabrication as it applies to vintage automobile bodywork. Candidates must have a working knowledge of automobile bodywork especially as it applies to vintage automobiles. The ability to think outside the box and solve problems at a high level is absolutely essential.
Responsibilities
Review blueprints, drawings, sketches, photos, and project specifications to understand the design requirements of jobs
Select appropriate materials which may include, but not limited to, metal, wood, plastic, or rubber
Cutting, shaping and forming materials using specialized tools such as hand hammers, shears, drills, grinders, power hammers, and english wheel are required
Ability to weld and solder using multiple techniques on different materials to a finished level
Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet the required standards and specifications
Maintaining and repair shop equipment
Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on creative solutions
Maintain a clean and professional work environment
Knowledge of CAD, 3D printing, mold making, casting, and machining would be a plus, a willingness to learn these items would also be welcomed.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized courses in auto body repair, metal forming, and or welding are a plus
3-5 years of direct fabrication experience is required
Must have experience with power hammers, english wheel, hand forming, and other specialized metal forming skills
Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and gas welding on both steel and aluminum
Ability to provide your own basic hand tools required for fabrication and assembly work
Good communication skills
Work Environment
The Precision Motor Cars Inc fabrication shop is part of the larger TNBC campus and is located at 808 N. Fenwick St, Allentown, PA 18109. Hours are typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Reporting Structure
The fabrication restoration technicians report to the restoration manager. Additionally, provide support to the mechanical and upholstery shop.
Physical Requirements
Fabrication restoration technician’s physical condition must be sufficient for the consistent and successful completion of the responsibilities defined for this position. This position frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or even crawling. This position requires lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate power tools is required.
