About Us

The NB Center for American Automotive Heritage is dedicated to preserving American automotive history through the collection, restoration, and sharing of vehicles, knowledge, and craftsmanship. Our campus features a world-class restoration shop (Precision Motor Cars, Inc) and a suite of specialty businesses (The NB Center Services, LLC), including machining, engine building, and gauge restoration. In late 2025, we will open a full-service repair facility to further expand our offerings. The NB Center also houses a curated 200-car collection spanning 1915 to 2017, all situated on a 27-acre, park-like campus.


We are looking for a skilled machinist (not machine operator) capable of hands-on operations to join our team. A team player who is hungry to learn new skills and takes pride in their work is needed.  

Position Overview

This opening is for experienced individuals with experience in hands-on machine work. Candidates must display knowledge of machine operation and set-up as related to the machining of automotive engine and chassis parts. A strong mechanical knowledge base oriented towards internal combustion engines and the ability to apply these skills to other machining needs and operations as may arise from the restoration of old mechanical systems. 

Suitable candidates with other machine work experience not related to automotive but willing to learn will also be considered. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform all types of manual machine operations including setting up and manually running jobs

  • Repair and maintain the shop equipment

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues both with shop equipment and jobs

  • Maintain a clean and professional work environment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized courses in machining are required. Courses or experience in fabricating and automotive mechanics is a plus. 

  • 1-5 years of working machinist experience is required. Automotive machine experience is a plus. 

  • Course work or experience in CAD, CNC and additive manufacturing would be welcomed

  • Good mathematical skills

 

Work Environment

The machine shop is part of the larger TNBC campus. This new facility is a modern and clean work environment, and is located at 848 N. Fenwick St, Allentown, PA 18109. Hours are typically 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, one hour for lunch. Parking is on site. 

 

Reporting Structure

The machinists report to the lead machinist and the TNBC Services shop manager.

 

Physical Requirements

Machinists’ physical condition must be sufficient for the consistent and successful completion of the responsibilities defined for this position. This position frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. This position requires lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate power tools is required.
