The NB Center for American Automotive Heritage is dedicated to preserving American automotive history through the collection, restoration, and sharing of vehicles, knowledge, and craftsmanship. Our campus features a world-class restoration shop (Precision Motor Cars, Inc) and a suite of specialty businesses (The NB Center Services, LLC), including machining, engine building, and gauge restoration. In late 2025, we will open a full-service repair facility to further expand our offerings. The NB Center also houses a curated 200-car collection spanning 1915 to 2017, all situated on a 27-acre, park-like campus.

We are looking for an experienced fabricator with complementary skills in automotive body restoration who is enthusiastic about working on old cars and trucks to join our team. A team player who is hungry for new challenges and an environment where they are allowed to shine as craftspeople. 

 
Position Overview

The NB Center Services, LLC is seeking an experienced Instrument Repair & Restoration Specialist for its Instrument shop to repair, maintain, and restore small mechanical and electronic instruments. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of both mechanical systems and small electronics, including motors, printed circuit boards, and testing procedures. Creative problem-solving, precision, and craftsmanship are essential in this role. This position is responsible for the repair, calibration, and restoration of automotive, aeronautic, and industrial instruments, such as speedometers, tachometers, amp/volt meters, and various gauges. The role also involves fabricating parts using a range of materials and tools.


Responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose issues with customer equipment and perform repairs to meet high-quality standards.

• Utilize appropriate materials (metal, wood, plastic, rubber) to facilitate repairs.

• Cut, shape, and form materials using specialized tools (e.g., drills, lathes, grinders, painting tools, soldering equipment, and welding equipment).

• Work on small scale objects and maintain a high degree of precision and cleanliness.

• Inspect finished products to verify they meet the required specifications.

• Maintain and repair shop equipment while ensuring the workspace is safe and organized.

• Keep thorough records, including time tracking, photographs, and videos of projects.

• Collaborate with managers to support customer service, invoicing, shipping, marketing, third party contractors, and project management.

• Work with other departments and assist in off-site projects as needed.

• Develop innovative solutions to complex restoration challenges.

• Knowledge or interest in CAD, 3D printing, mold-making, casting, and machining is a plus.

• Artistic skills or a willingness to learn them is also valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, with specialized training in automotive or aviation

mechanics, small electronics, or electric motor repair.

• 3-5 years of direct experience in repair or restoration work.

• Proficiency with electric/mechanical testing equipment, hand tools, and bench tools.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.


Work Environment

The NB Center Services shops are part of the larger TNBC campus. The Instrument shop is located at 802 N Fenwick St, Allentown, PA 18109. Hours are typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.


Reporting Structure

The Instrument shop employee reports to The NB Center Services manager.
